  1. How does Surgi-Lock 2oc work?

Meridian Animal Health’s Surgi-Lock 2oc is a 2-octyl cyanoacrylate adhesive used to bond tissue together for veterinary procedures including, but not limited, to spays, neuters, declaws, dew claw removals, lacerations, etc. When used properly, Surgi-Lock 2oc can eliminate the need for conventional sutures and bandages. The formulation is clear and will polymerize rapidly upon contact with body tissue. Besides working as a tissue adhesive, Surgi-Lock 2oc also serves as a hemostatic agent. Surgi-Lock 2oc will slough off naturally from the animal’s body as healing occurs.
  1. How does Surgi Lock 2oc provide protection against infection?
  1. Surgi-Lock 2oc provides a needle-free method of wound closure, an important consideration because of blood-borne viruses. Surgi-Lock 2oc functions as a waterproof adhesive, providing antimicrobial properties against gram-positive organisms that may decrease infections. It has been shown to decrease histologic and clinical infection rates in contaminated wounds when compared to closure with traditional sutures.
  1. Is Surgi-Lock 2oc safe for pets?
  1. Yes, at 98.9%, Surgi-Lock 2oc offers the highest levels of purity available on the marketplace.
  1. Does Surgi-Lock 2oc help minimize post surgical care?
  1. Yes, there are fewer – or no – wound dressings to change and most often a return visit to the veterinarian is not required, which is not the case for sutures that require removal.

  1. If I cut the length of the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar to fit my pet, will it affect how it works?
  1. No, cutting the collar does not reduce efficacy.
  1. What happens if a cat or dog eats or chews on a NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar?
  1. The NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar is made of plastics, so there could be a foreign body reaction. There are no toxic substances in the collar.
  1. What are the warnings for people handling the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar?
  1. The NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar is not a toy so it should be kept out of reach of children. Contact with the collar while on the animal should not be a problem.
  1. What happens if the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar gets wet?
  1. If the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar gets wet it should be taken off and wiped dry in order to maintain continual release of pheromone. It can then be replaced on the animal with no loss of efficacy.
  1. Can the animal be bathed or swim while wearing the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar?
  1. We recommend taking the collar off before bathing or swimming.
  1. What happens if the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar is exposed to heat in the environment?
  1. There will be some evaporation of the pheromone if it is taken out of the package and warmed, so the duration of activity may be shortened.
  1. Does the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar expire?
  1. The Nurture Calm 24/7® pheromone Collar has a shelf life of three years, if it is stored in its original packaging in a dry place.
  1. How does the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar work?
  1. The NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar is designed to release powder which activates the pheromones. It lasts for up to 30 days.
  1. How tight should the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar be attached to the cat or dog?
  1. The NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone collar should be attached similar to a normal pet collar with at least two fingers fitting between the collar and the cat or dog.
  1. Does the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar need to be stretched before it is placed on the cat or dog?
  1. NutureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar has no specific handling instructions.
  1. How should the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar be worn with other collars?
  1. NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar should be worn along side the regular collar or chain. It can be worn with a flea and tick collar. Do not: Cover the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone collar with another collar.
  1. Does the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar immediately work once it is placed on my cat or dog's neck?
  1. When the collar is placed, the perception of the pheromone by the cat or dog is immediate. However, as in every behaviour program, the visible improvement in specific behaviors requires some time, depending on a variety of factors: the cat or dog, the nature, duration and severity of the problem, and behavior modification (animal and owner). Usually, an improvement in specific behavior signs is seen during the first two weeks after wearing the Collar, but some animals require a month to exhibit visible improvement.
  1. How long will the NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar last?
  1. The NurtureCalm 24/7® pheromone Collar is expected to release the pheromone for 30 days. The Collar will stop releasing pheromones suddenly and clients usually notice a behavior change in their cat or dog by the next day.
  1. Will other pets in the house be affected by a NurtureCalm 24/7® Pheromone Collar worn on another pet?
  1. No, the pheromone is released in the immediate vicinity of the animal wearing the NurtureCalm 24/7® Pheromone Collar.
